The Taal Volcanic Eruption happened last January 12, 2020. All Batangueños was shocked specifically me it is actually the first time that I've encountered this kind of calamity. But in our place which is Sto. Tomas, Batangas it is not that much affected so I was thinking in the places near the Taal Volcano such as Talisay, Batangas, Laurel and Agoncillo, Batangas. How they will continue if the places that they are living is within the danger zone? What would happen next after this calamity? That is some of the questions that always running in my mind. But you know what I strongly believe that despite of this kind situation we will rise from the ashes like a phoenix and we'll soar and fly high again.

We, the Batangueños are popular because of our products such as Loming Batangas one of our delicacy that we are proud of, next is Kapeng Barako that is strong like who we are right now. But because of the Taal Volcanic Eruption we are now popular because of our bravery and resiliency that no matter what calamities we've been through we are still smiling and showing not just to the whole world but to the rest of the universe that Batangueños will always be like their products; Loming Batangas that has a lot of toppings that gives extra taste to our tongue and that toppings symbolizes all Batangueños who also gave their extra hardwork to help our fellow Batangueños and of course the Kapeng Barako that symbolizes our personality and character that it's just minor set back to a major comeback, we'll continue what we have started because we are strong like Kapeng Barako and we will overcome this calamity no matter what happen.

Lastly, I believe that this calamity happens for a reason and the reason is to measure our willingness to help without waiting for return and to know who will be there despite the situation. And even I saw some people who take advantage in this kind of scenario there's always a lot of good people who will help and cheer you up and that is what's good about us. And of course this is just a challenge given by God and God will not give us a challenge that we will not overcome. This past few days we cried, we fell, we failed, we felt hopeless but above all of that we learned to keep going and move forward.

If there is a rainbow after the rain there always be a helping hand after the calamity.

  2. Mix emotion when I finish reading this article. You showed us that moving as one and helping each other is a great and a strong characteristics of our fellow Filipino in Batangas despite of what they're experiencing. The last sentence reminds me that if we fail, we can stand as high as we can. Thank you for inspiring me Jerome!
