ACCEPTED: THE POWER OF REJECTION
The movie "Accepted" seems to be unfamiliar to all of us, but it also seems interesting. The moment our professor told us the glimpse of the movie it actually had the opposite on what is running in my head. And the moment we are watching it, the idea that comes to my mind is the power of failure. Many of us encountered and experienced to failed whether it is in school, at home, and in so many fields of life. People think that if we failed on something they'll consider us as loser, defeated, and unsuccessful, but I totally disagree. I believe that failure is an ingredient to become successful because we will not see what's wrong with us or what's lacking with us if we don't failed, failure is very powerful because it can turn an ordinary person to become extraordinary, I see failure as a motivation that can unleash our fullest potentials, that can broaden the horizon towards us and the people around us.
Furthermore, I felt melancholic towards the students who didn't passed or been accepted on their first option of their chosen school. It feels devasted on the first few days, however don't let sadness ruin your future there are huge opportunities and possibilities outside, don't settle for less and don't force yourself to be in the situation where you don't deserve. This movie accepted can somehow be harmful to the youngsters particularly to those students, because they might think of doing the same of creating a fake university just to make our parents proud and just to make ourselves accepted and feel welcome to society's standard. However, if we will think deeply this movie had a different intention to the viewers and that is to really explore the world and let our failure be our greatest inspiration to become the person we want to see in the future.
Additionally, I can not deny the fact there are moments in the movie that I felt I've done it before, but in a different scenario. I can still clearly remember when I was in elementary, I was a great social climber just to fit or at least be close to my classmates's status in life. They were very rich, on the other side I'm just a normal student in the middle class society, but since I wanna fit on the standard I fake myself, I fake my status, I fake my personality just for own sake to be welcomed and felt the valued and worth that my classmates are receiving. Back then if you are rich you are powerful, you are popular, and student's look up to you. Don't get me wrong I'm always on top of the class but I chose to fit on other people's standard. And that scenario kinda resonated what Bartleby have done to the movie. Moreover, this movie also talks about the condition of education around the world. It is proven in the movie that for student's they really need to study even harder to make their dreams alive on the university they want. Also, they do need to pay attention and of course bring their critical and creative juices. On the other hand, it also highlights how students are being technologically inclined because they can create a website for students to log in and create a so called SHIT University or the South Harmon Institute of Technology. Education and Technology on education or being emphasized on this movie.
In conclusion, this movie thought us to be who we are despite all the criticism and judgements from other people. This movie give the students a platform to be creative and enjoy their desire and interest in life. From all the possible themes I think one of the best would be "pursuing ones dream" because despite all the rejections and failures that students faced they are all still motivated and willing to achieve their dreams no matter what those dreams are. I do love the courage and perseverance that the main character have shown on the latter part of the movie just to protect and uplift the students abilities that can create thousands of possibilities inside the SHIT University.
All in all, it was great movie. A must watch movie for those people who have failed in life, but want to keep going and move forward.
